The Zentangle® Method is a fun, easy to learn art form that focuses the mind, much like meditation. We will tangle together step by step as we learn the basics and several patterns using lines, curves, orbs, s-curves and dots. Through these simple repetitive pen strokes participants will connect with the still small voice within while calming and clearing the mind finding a sense of calm and inner peace. Participants will learn the basic skills of The Zentangle® Method and create original works of abstract art. No matter what your level of artistic abilities you can tangle! No previous art experience necessary but you will feel like an artist at the end of the class. Each participant will take away knowledge of new tangle patterns, a completed tile, and inspiration for future tangling.

Labyrinths date back at least 4000 years and have been found all over the world in many different cultures. A labyrinth has a single path to the center and then out and is not meant to confuse, but to provide a path for contemplation or spiritual exploration. In this 4-session class, participants will tangle various Zentangle® patterns on a 5-circut labyrinth in the Chartres tradition. Zentangle®, too, is a tool for reflection and relaxation, providing focus and a sense of inner peace. In each session, we will tangle multiple patterns within a section of the labyrinth path and experience the calm and focus of Zentangle®. At the end of the series, we will cover the piece with mod-podge, thus creating a finger-labyrinth that can be used at anytime for meditation and relaxation. “Let your fingers do the walking,” as they say. A 5-circut labyrinth outline of about 7 inches will be provided for students (a pdf file will be sent to students taking the class online).
